These are replacement covers for your still good OEM door frames. These have double polished marine vinyl windows standard. Upgrades include Marine Flexa Clear or Smoke tint. Charcoal tint also available (Ford Bronco window material). Flexa/tinted materials add cost.
Available in all the materials used for MMM soft slant backs, cargo covers and curtains
(Front door skins also shown for comparison, but are NOT included.)
Process:
1. Order new door skins from MadMountain
2. Drill rivets of door weatherstripping and remove weatherstripping from frame
3. Cut old vinyl cover off door frame and clean and straighten. Paint the frame is desired. Rustoleum Rust Reformer is a great idea.
4. Place new MadMountain door skin over the old frame. Temporarily fix it in place around the outer portion of the frame, then fasten the Velcro under the window.
5. Sew around perimeter and re-rivet the weatherstripping (it's a good idea to give the weatherstripping a cleaning before too).
6. Add hinges and handles, mount the recovered door and adjust the fit as needed.
Rubber/contact cement works well for the temporary holding before sewing.
Skins can be mounted using only the glue or other adhesive, and held in by the weatherstripping rivets. This may cause sagging over time and a less attractive door, but eliminates the need to find someone to sew it.
